Firefighting

The Ridgeview Fire Department's primary mission is the protection and preservation of life and property for the people it serves. The department is committed to doing so through the provision of quality cost effective services in the areas of fire suppression, emergency medicine, hazardous materials mitigation and other technological and natural disasters.

Our department is filled with members from all walks of life. Membership occupations include neurobiologists, mathematicians, mechanical engineers, businessmen and women, atmospheric scientists, computer programmers, structural geologists, speech pathologists, academic administrators, property managers, college students, and many more. We have had members from Australia, Canada, Cuba, El Salvador, England, Romania, and Russia - all who choose to also volunteer outside of regular work hours. RFD accepts members from all walks of life, with all levels of experience.

EMS/EMTs

Emergency Medical Services is a vital function of the Ridgeview Fire Department. With two (2) New York State Certified ALS/BLS Ambulances the Ridgeview Fire Department can establish patient care and transport. With this the Ridgeview EMS team is the only paid team in the Department. Wait but isn't this a Volunteer Fire Department? Yes, our firefighters are volunteers. However in order for us to provide life saving measures we must have our EMS/EMTs at the station at all times.

Support Staff

A question that many community members ask is, "I'm interested in helping the department, but I don't really want to fight fire or have enough time to fulfill training requirements."

What if I don't have enough time to fulfill training requirements, but I still want to help? You can most definitely help! Our department is always in need of volunteers to provide support services. Support members are needed for scene photography, administrative record keeping, station maintenance, social outing organization, fund raising, and numerous other functions.
